Paper And Pulp
The first writing papyrus was used in Ancient Egypt about 5,000 years ago. It is known that the papers obtained with today's pulp were produced in China about 2 thousand years ago. The first production in Turkey was established in 1453 in Istanbul's Kağıthane district. The formation of a modern paper industry in our country waited until the Izmit Sümerbank Pulp and Paper Factory (Seka), which was established in 1936. That's why Seka is of great importance. Despite the growth potential, constantly developing domestic market and increasing demand, Turkey's paper industry cannot produce at a sufficient level in terms of production. Turkey's Paper industry is one of the sectors that should be given strategic importance for our country.
